Library update

Hello, friends.  We miss seeing you and are doing our best to provide you good and safe service.  We’re keeping a close eye on COVID case statistics to determine when we can open to the public for browsing again.  The trend is encouraging.  As soon as we have an opening date, we will let you know.

Meanwhile, we would like your opinion:  Should we have an hour before the library opens specifically for no-contact pickup?  We don’t want to deny access to those who prefer not to interact with staff and public.

Don’t forget that you can order books and movies online or by phone and pick them up with no contact.  And we keep getting new materials all the time, like these new titles for grownups and young people.

No-Contact Pickup Hours

Tuesday:        3-7
Wednesday: 1-5

Holiday Schedule

Hello friends.  Just a reminder that we are doing no-contact pickup until you hear otherwise.  Meanwhile, here are our holiday hours.

Christmas Eve (December 24): 1-3 pm
Christmas Day (December 25): CLOSED
New Years Eve (December 31): 1-6 pm
New Years Day (January 1): CLOSED

Happy holidays to one and all and here’s hoping for a bright new, pandemic-free 2021!

Library reopening

Hello, friends.  We’re sorry that we had to close the library with no notice, but we had a COVID exposure and were required to quarantine.

We are reopening on Monday, November 30th for no-contact pickup only.  That means that you will not be able to come into the library for the time being.  However, you can return your materials in the book drop anytime.  And don’t worry if you have accrued late fees; we will gladly waive them.

How does no-contact pickup work?

You can order materials online through our website or call the library and we will help you select items.  When you’re ready to pick up, call the library and we will set up a time that works for you.  We will check out your materials to you and leave them in the lobby at your appointment time.

We appreciate your patience and hope to speak to you soon.

Check out this video for more information on how no-contact pickup works.

Added Hours

In our ongoing quest to provide you the best service possible, we are adding another four hours per week to our COVID-19 limited hours.  Beginning September 14th, the new hours will be:

Monday: 1-6
Tuesday: 3-7
Wednesday: 1-5
Thursday: 1-5
Friday: 1-6
Saturday: 10-2

We continue to encourage you to keep your visits short and minimize contact.

Curbside service!

Hello library community,

We miss your friendly faces, but we’re all doing the right thing by minimizing our contact.  That said, we believe that at this time we can begin to check out items via curbside service.  If you want to take part, here’s how:

  • Our regular online request process remains in place. Please note that items requested online will not be immediately available, and some items may not be available at all.
  • We will also accept requests by phone during pickups hours only. Note that we will need at least 15 minutes to process requests.
  • You will choose your pickup time during pickup hours and we will check out materials to you, print a receipt, package your checked-out items, and leave them in the entryway with your initials attached. Please retrieve materials promptly.  You must make an appointment ahead of time.

Pickup hours

Monday, Wednesday-Friday     1-5
Tuesday      3-7
Saturday     11-1

We will take all reasonable precautions, but you should exercise your own judgment.

FAQs:

Q: Can I come in to the library to select my items?
A: No, the library building past the entryway remains closed.  Library staff will check out items to you and leave them in the lobby at the time of your pickup appointment.

Q: I’m not sure of the exact titles I want.  Can you help?
A: Yes, we would be glad to help you find something you will enjoy during our phone conversation.

Q: What are you doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on materials?
A: We are using gloves, washing our hands regularly, and holding returned items for 24 hours before they can be checked out again.  If you are still concerned, we recommend holding items for 24-72 hours before opening them.  Please do not use cleaners on library materials as they may cause damage.

Q: What if I want to keep the items I have checked out until the library reopens?
A: That’s just fine.  Due dates have been automatically extended, and if you end up with late fees accrued during this period, we will gladly waive them.

Q: What if I set up an appointment and then miss it?
A: We will hold your materials for up to 10 days in the library, but you will need to make a new pick up appointment.

If you have more questions, please call us during pickup hours at 507-744-3977 or send an email to lon_dir@selco.info.
