Summer reading program is back! This year will be a little different again. Like last year, we will be giving out packets every week with worksheets, crafts, coloring and other fun stuff. These are divided between pre-readers, readers, and teens/tweens. When you register, you can enter for a chance to win one of ten grand prize baskets. After that, you can stop by the library and pick up the right packet for you from the entryway at any time. There will be videos on Facebook and YouTube each week with demonstrations. We are still being cautious about gathering in large numbers in the library, but we are having several events elsewhere.
Big thanks to Subway and Casey’s for donating prizes and Mackenthun’s for helping with the cost of the cookout!
Kickoff Party Cookout, Sticha Park, June 7th, 12:00-1:30
We start the whole program off with a cookout. Enjoy free hot dogs, chips and lemonade! We will serve until 1:30 or until the food runs out. We’ll play some outdoor games and you’ll have a chance to sign up for summer reading. Come one, come all! All ages.
The Jolly Pops combine upbeat, original music with a host of children’s standards for a concert that is sure to please kids and adults alike. Take a fun ride with the Happy Dads and their puppet friends as they sing about alligator dancing, popsicles, trains, pet dinosaurs…and more! Aimed at ages 3-8, but all ages welcome.
Remarkable Reptiles, Lonsdale Elementary School Gym, June 30th, 12:00-1:00 and 1:15-2:15
Your friend and ours, Jim Gerholdt, will be back with his snakes, lizards and turtles. There will be two sessions with limited space. Please pre-register at https://tricity.cr3.rschooltoday.com/public/getclass/category_id/63/program_id/15. All ages.
Ice Cream Social, Sticha Park, July 16th, 12:00-1:00
Join us in the park one last time to close out the year with friends and ice cream! All ages.
STORYTIMES AND OTHER FUN STUFF:
In person storytimes are back Friday mornings at 10:30 starting June 4th! We will meet outside the library; just follow the signs. (No storytime on wet days.) We will have “I Spy” games in the windows, so you can play anytime. The things to search for will change every week, so come back regularly. We’re also planning an art gallery of your work!
Once again we ask you not to turn in your reading logs, but encourage you to use them to inspire you to keep reading, learning and exploring! We will distribute prizes in your weekly packets. There will also be ten grand prize baskets. You can choose the grand prize drawing to enter when you sign up. You can register at the library in person, call us at 507-744-3977 or sign up online. Registration opens June 7th.
